What you need for your web launch with costs

When you first start looking for a web design company to work with you will come across one size fits all pricing, often at very low fees.

We have prepared a list here detailing what you could expect to pay for certain items along with some other website aspects to think about. All these variables and factors come into consideration when we quote for a website and costs are value driven.

  • Approx: £10 - £30 per year

A domain name is the first requirement and it is important to get this right - short and snappy is better.

In general, purchasing both .co.uk and .com is good practice because it can help prevent competition from undermining your business. If you are a community organisation then .org is more suitable. There are many other options available (biz, .hotel, .solutions, .uk). If they fit your business service, these can also work well.

Design Fibre can help direct your purchases.

  • Approx: £25 - £50 per year for each mailbox.

Giving your clients and customers a professional impression starts with your email and it is always best to get this in place before you begin.

  • It is important that hosting is secure, reliable and fast.

Ensuring that an SSL Certificate is included is also important. SSL, more commonly called TLS, is a protocol for encrypting Internet traffic and verifying server identity. Any website with an HTTPS web address uses SSL/TLS.

Costs vary depending on the complexity and popularity of your website. We include SSL with all our websites.

  • Good communication and content massively helps improve your search engine ranking whilst help build your business brand.

For some, this can take some time to complete and even prevent things from starting. As long as you have at least the skeletal structure and basic objectives of what you want to say we can help refine your content ready for the web design and structure. For large or particularly complex businesses we can point you in the direction of skilful copywriters.

Search online for businesses that might be marketing in ways you like or dislike (this often helps us understand the type of brand and website you might be seeking).

    IMAGES, GRAPHICS AND VIDEOS

Professional photos of your business, your team and your products will help you stand out from your competition. We work with photographers tailored to the style of shot you need. Please ring and we can make those recommendations.

If your budget is limited, stock photo libraries offering many high-quality image options are available (free and paid).

    E-COMMERCE

The product range you want to sell is obviously the starting point, but product descriptions, specifications, pricing, delivery costs, how you will fulfil orders and how the product range will be updated… these will form an essential part of any E-Commerce website.

  • Your website will be designed to achieve your goals, whether it’s converting leads, making sales or driving traffic.

Design Fibre will build a website with functionality that puts your users first to ensure that it converts and captivates with creative visuals, keeping visitors to the site immersed in well structured and easy to navigate content.

We create a user journey based on the information you give us. We can help with starter websites or larger, more complex websites and we have been in business for a while (DF since 2012) and before that as a freelance designer (since 2004).

  • DF include training for content updates with every website we build via Zoom.

Having worked for years almost exclusively in Wordpress, we have moved to Squarespace and Webflow. Both these systems are immensely powerful combining design control and powerful search optimisation whilst allowing content to be managed more easily than Wordpress. We will teach you how to use the system (this normally takes no longer than an hour).

  • There may be transaction fees if you are selling products or tickets for an event. Depending on the payment gateway you choose, this varies. Stripe charges 1.4%, but on every sale, the more ubiquitous PayPal charges 3.4% commission plus 20p per transaction.

  • If you want to make the most of your website and make sure it helps your business's progress, you may want to keep it updated frequently.

Much of the day-to-day updates may be handled by yourself, but there will be occasions when you need our expert assistance and support. We're still eager and ready! Depending on your choice, we will charge an hourly rate or a periodical maintenance rate.

  • There are all manner of ways to promote your website and it can seem a little daunting to begin with.

    SOCIAL MEDIA

An effective online marketing is crucial for most businesses these days. We can show you how to manage your social media accounts efficiently with our Online Marketing and Social Media services so you get the traction you need to grow.

    EMAIL NEWSLETTERS

We can create email newsletter templates and customer email lists or we offer MailChimp and Squarespace Email Marketing training via Zoom.

    BLOGS

Updating your blog with topical, search engine optimised content is a great way to attract an audience and will improve your search engine ranking if you write regularly.

Finding the time to write a blog article and knowing what to write about can be time consuming.

If you need help we can write them on your behalf and we’ll upload them for you too if the site is built on either Squarespace or Webflow.

    PRINTED MARKETING

Even if you are the most digital of digital businesses, you will still undoubtedly need printed items, all of which can further enhance your brand and website promotions. We have plenty of experience creating many forms of print from business cards to brochures, catalogues, print advertising, packaging, and pretty much anything else in between.

PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES: ALL WORK QUOTED INDIVIDUALLY, BASED ON YOUR REQUIREMENTS.
